Street Road Lane encourages engagement with the present moment, a prompt to explore our internal emotions, and the suggestion to embrace the aesthetics of our surroundings. Together six diverse female artists collaboratively explore the beauty of being mindful and present. Life today is often fast-paced and stressful, making it easy to forget what’s really important. We may lose connection with ourselves; pursue convenience at the cost of a sustainable environment; rush through time and become vague to the beauty that sur- rounds us. May we not become despondent to how colourful life can be? We invite the viewer to explore our emotional reflections through painting, installation, sculpture, and interactive mind provoking participation. Responding to one theme, each artist portrays a unique visual interpretation, through abstraction, symbolism, realism, and surrealism. We aim to create a tangible space for the viewer to calm and balance their mind, become connected with the present, our environment, and with each other. Kerry-Ann, Huihui, Jean, Meredith (Advanced Level), Veena and Qing are currently study- ing Visual Arts at RMIT.
Unconscious Connections
by Meredith Lawson
Paintings, photographs and sculpture Inspired by the routes and tracks people make through their daily adventures along with the patterns and imprints they create along the way. Meredith has captured what people generally overlook in their everyday lives by recreating the abstract lines of one’s travel.
